Your information
Privacy policy.
What we collect, why we use it, and the choices you have.
Last updated October 25, 2026
The Student Studio ("Student Studio," "we," "us," or "our") provides the Student Studio mobile app and this website. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you use our services or contact us. For questions or privacy requests, email support@studentstudio.app.
Information you share with us
- Account and profile information. Your account identifier, name, email address, profile image, selected college or university, and any optional biography or contact details you add. Our authentication provider, Clerk, handles sign-in credentials and account security. If you use a third-party sign-in method, it provides the account information needed to sign you in, according to your settings with that provider.
- Listings and photos. Service titles, descriptions, categories, prices, campus information, and images you upload when offering a service.
- Messages and booking requests. Conversation content and read status, the students involved, and booking details such as the service, date, duration, time zone, location, price, status, and any note you provide.
- Support and safety information. Messages you send to support, reports about content or other users, block records, and information needed to investigate an issue.
You choose your campus. The campus directory includes institutional locations; the current app does not track your live device location. Buyers and sellers arrange payment directly. Student Studio does not provide in-app checkout or collect payment-card details for those arrangements.
Information used to operate the service
We process technical information needed to keep the service working, such as device and app versions, network and request information, error reports, navigation context, and performance data. Diagnostics may include your account identifier so we can investigate a problem. Error diagnostics may include a replay of app interactions with text and images masked.
If you enable notifications, we store a device notification token and notification preferences to deliver relevant updates. You can change notification permissions in your device settings. If you choose to add a listing photo, the app uses your device's photo picker to access the image you select, without requesting access to your entire photo library.
Why we use this information
- To create and secure accounts, show profiles, and connect you with your chosen campus.
- To publish and display listings, deliver messages, and manage booking requests.
- To send service notifications and respond to support or privacy requests.
- To review listings, investigate reports, prevent abuse, and enforce our rules.
- To diagnose errors, maintain the service, and meet applicable legal obligations.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process information to provide the service you request, for legitimate interests such as security and reliability, to meet legal obligations, or with your consent. You may withdraw consent where processing depends on it. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew it.
What other students can see
Your profile and published listings are visible to other users through the app. Information you include in a listing or public profile can be seen by those users. Messages and booking details are available to the people involved in the conversation or booking and may be accessed as needed to operate the service or investigate safety issues. Share only the personal information you want to disclose, especially when discussing meeting locations or contact details.
Service providers and other disclosures
We use service providers to deliver specific parts of Student Studio:
- Clerk: authentication, account management, and account security.
- Convex: application data, file storage, and backend processing.
- OpenAI: automated listing moderation. Listing text, category, price, campus, seller display name, and listing images are submitted for this review before publication.
- Expo: push-notification delivery and app updates.
- Sentry: error diagnostics, masked error replays, and performance monitoring.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to investigate abuse or protect people's safety and rights, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or acquisition. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Information may be processed outside your state, province, or country by our service providers, subject to applicable data-protection requirements.
How long information is kept
We keep information for as long as it is needed to provide the service and for the purposes in this policy. When you delete your account, background cleanup removes your app profile, owned listings and uploaded images, associated conversations and messages, booking records, block records, and notification records. The process is not necessarily instantaneous.
Safety reports and related investigation records may remain after account deletion to prevent abuse, investigate incidents, enforce our terms, or meet legal obligations. These records can include report reasons, content summaries, identifiers, status, and account-deletion markers. Information in backups or service-provider records may remain until deleted under the relevant retention process. We do not use retained information for unrelated purposes. Contact us for information about records relevant to your request.
See account deletion for the in-app steps and a way to request deletion without the app. Uninstalling the app does not delete your account.
Your choices and privacy rights
You can edit profile information in the app, manage account security from Settings, and control device permissions through your device. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access or receive a copy of your personal information, correct it, request deletion, withdraw consent, or object to or restrict certain processing. Applicable US state laws may also provide rights concerning the categories or specific recipients of your information, sensitive information, targeted advertising, sale, or certain profiling.
To make a request, email support@studentstudio.app. We may need to verify your identity or an authorized agent's authority before acting on a request. We use verification information for that purpose and for security. We consider requests according to applicable law and do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If a request is denied, you can contact the same address to appeal. You may also contact the appropriate privacy regulator or state attorney general where applicable.
Security
We use technical and organizational safeguards intended to protect personal information. However, no internet transmission or storage system is completely secure. Protect your account credentials and contact support if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.
Age requirement
Student Studio is intended for people aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact support@studentstudio.app so we can investigate and take appropriate action, including deleting that information. Our child safety standards explain how to report a safety concern.
This website and policy updates
This website provides product information, support, and policy pages. It does not ask you to sign in or enter app credentials. Our website host and your network provider may process ordinary request information when you visit. Following an email link opens your email application; your request is sent only when you send that email.
We may update this policy as the service changes. We will update the date on this page and provide additional notice of material changes when required by law.
